Dayton Station Promotes Morning Anchor to Evenings

By Kevin Eck

WDTN morning anchor John Seibel has been named co-anchor of the evening news for the Dayton NBC affiliate.

Seibel, who has worked at WDTN since 2014, replaces Mark Allan, who is retiring on Sept. 2 after more than 25 years at the station.

Starting Monday, Seibel will join Brooke Moore and chief meteorologist Brian Davis for the 4 p.m. news. He’ll also co-anchor the 5, 6, 10 and 11 p.m. newscasts.

“John knows the Miami Valley and its people well, having grown up here,” said WDTN vp and gm Joe Abouzeid. “He loves it here and is committed to our community. We are thrilled to have him anchor our afternoon and evening newscasts.”

Seibel said he was “humbled” to have worked in his hometown for the last seven and a half years.

“I’m honored to continue earning that trust in the evenings and at night, and I’m thrilled to team up with Brooke, Brian Davis and Jack Pohl, for whom I have great respect,” he said.

Allan, who announced his retirement in June, will finish his run at the station with the 6 p.m. newscast on Thursday, Sept. 2.
