Dawn Stensland is making a return to Philadelphia’s airwaves with a new show on WMCN.

Stensland told the Philadelphia Inquirer her new show, tentatively titled “A New View”, would “delve into the issues – not politics, not sports, but it could be about health, social issues, education.”

“We’re absolutely thrilled to have Dawn joining us at wmcn44.” Jon Gorchow, president of Lenfest Broadcasting told TVSpy.  “Aside from being a terrific journalist, she has a warm heart, great sense of humor, and a terrific personality.  Her new program will feature all of those characteristics when it launches next month!  Viewers will get to see the real Dawn!

The former WTXF anchor, who has faced a series of challenges both professional and personal since leaving the station in 2009, won’t be the only face familiar to Philadelphia viewers with a show on WMCN.  Don Tollefson, former WTXF sports director, will feature inspiring people from the area on his new show, “Tolly’s Awesome Friends” while Phil Andrews, former WPVI sports personality, will host “Philly Sports Spotlight” with behind  the scenes looks at local teams and athletes.

Gorchow said the new original programming will launch the last week of October and will run either in the early evenings or in primetime.

Dawn Stensland is married to former Philadelphia anchor and current WPIX contributor Larry Mendte who in 2008 admitted to hacking into his co-anchor, Alycia Lane’s, emails and is involved in a high-profile lawsuit brought by Lane over the allegations.
