David Chandley Leaving WSB After 25 Years, Welcomes Fifth Meteorologist

By Kevin Eck

chandleyDavid Chandley, meteorologist for Atlanta ABC affiliate WSB, has announced he is leaving the station.

“After 25+ years at WSB-TV, I have decided to not renew my contract,” Chandley wrote on his facebook page. “My career goal has always been to be a chief meteorologist and when my current contract expires on July 11th, that pursuit will begin.”

Rodney Ho, media writer for the Atlanta Journal Constitution, who first reported the story wrote, “If he leaves July 11, he has a 180-day non-compete clause that will prevent him from immediately joining any other Atlanta TV station until January, 2015.”

Also, Katie Walls made her WSB debut. She was introduced on the Noon show Wednesday. WSB said Walls was added after the station saw a need for a fifth meteorologist.

On her facebook page, Walls added a tweet from a WSB promo producer welcoming her to the station.
