david-baileyjpg-b9cb5b404f7bda2cDavid Bailey, chief investigative reporter and main fill-in anchor at WWMT, the CBS affiliate in Grand Rapids, has left the station, MLive reports.

Bailey, who’s been with the station for the past eight years, told the site that it all came down to a contract dispute:

“It’s just a contract situation. It just didn’t work out,” he told MLive reporter Jeffrey Kaczmarczyk. “For me it was my best journalistic year last year. I had a really, really good year. For this to happen, it’s really disappointing. I wish it had gone in a different direction.”

Although the timing of his departure wasn’t ideal, Bailey only had positive things to say about his time there.

“It was a good run,” he told Kaczmarczyk. “Channel 3 was great to me overall. They were great to me, and I was great to them.”

Bailey’s final day at WWMT was last Friday.
