Washington Sports Anchor Steps Out to Protest

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

WUSA sports anchor Darren Haynes traded sports headlines for his own headline as a participant in a peaceful Washington, D.C., protest yesterday.

His sign read, “Justice for ______. I left it blank b/c I’ll probably need it next year.”

Haynes, who started at the Tegna station in Washington in 2017, walked with thousands wearing a mask Monday.

The former ESPN anchor walked during the protest but also covered the event for the station, citing that D.C. police took a knee at one point.
