Community Rallies Around Atlanta Anchor Recovering from Brain Surgery

Atlanta anchor Jovita Moore is being called “a model patient” after undergoing surgery Friday to remove two brain tumors found last week.

Moore’s co-anchor, Justin Farmer, told viewers that Moore’s surgery went well and that she told him she felt the communities support before undergoing surgery.

So far, more than 22,000 people have written well-wishes on the page the ABC affiliate station set up to show support for Moore.

A local credit union, Georgia’s Own Credit Union, put the message “Atlanta Loves You, Jovita!” on a digital sign atop one of its buildings.

CBS affiliate WGCL also extended its best wishes to Moore, telling its viewers: “Jovita Moore, WSB-TV Channel 2’s, Atlanta news anchor underwent brain tumor surgery on Friday, and the entire family here at CBS46 News wishes her well.”

Doctors say recovery may take anywhere from 8 to 10 weeks. Moore previously said she was “not sure when I’ll be back on air, but when I’m able, I will be.”
