Columbus Anchor Leaving to Manage NFL Bound Son

When Candice Lee leaves WCMH to spend more time with her family, she’ll actually mean it.

Lee is leaving the Columbus NBC affiliate to work for her NFL-bound son Darron who is a first round pick of the New York Jets after playing Linebacker for Ohio State.

“The day after the draft ended, Candice, a reporter and weekend anchor, gave WCMH officials 90-day notice. Her last day on air will be July 27,” reports the Columbus Dispatch.

“I want to be there for many of his games,” said Lee. “And working weekends would not be conducive to traveling to see him play. Plus, it was time – I have been in the business for 19 years.”

CBS Sports reports Lee will be handling Darron’s “off-field life” including marketing and endorsements in a role he calls his “mom-ager.”
