Cleveland Station’s Rebranding Panned by Paper

Cleveland CBS affiliate WOIO dropped its “Action News” branding (and shuffled anchors), unveiling a new logo–and new colors.

The Plain Dealer’s Marc Bona was struck by the switch, trading red and black (Ohio State) for yellow and blue (University of Michigan):

Only thing missing is a ferocious-looking Wolverine peering out from the CBS eye.

Hopefully we won’t soon be seeing the scholastic-looking block M on crawlers touting MORE NEWS.

We haven’t heard back from the station about whether WOIO will open a bureau in Ann Arbor.
