Cleveland comedian Mike Polk has been hired by local NBC affiliate WKYC.

“We are thrilled to welcome Mike Polk Jr. to the WKYC family,” the station’s President and General Manager Micki Byrnes said in a statement on the station website. “Mike is one of the most well-established and successful figures in the Cleveland comedy scene and we’re excited that he’ll be bringing a fresh perspective and smart sense of humor to the local news cycle on a daily basis.”

The same TEGNA owned station that hired former CBS anchor Russ Mitchell in 2012 told Cleveland Scene the station has no firm ideas for using Polk but that “lots of ideas” are percolating.
