Cleveland Police Catch Phony News Crew Accused of Tasering Victims

Cleveland Police have arrested two men for felonious assault and have taken one juvenile into custody.  The men are accused of impersonating a TV news crew and tasering victims with a stun gun.

WKYC, the local NBC affiliate reported the men said they were doing it for fun,

While in police custody, Solomon Herbert, 19, stated that he was video recording as Derek Rowell, 25, shocked people with the stun gun, according to police records. When asked who shocked the victim, Herbert stated that Rowell shocked the victim as he recorded it, and that they were doing it just for fun.

The incidents began Saturday when police received reports of six men, claiming to be with a local TV station, approaching a man and asking to interview him.  When the man kept walking, he said the news crew zapped him with the stun gun and ran off. Later, police said they received more reports of a news crew tasering people and videotaping it.

Police told WKYC they are looking for more suspects.
