Cleveland Meteorologist Moving to Rival Station

By Kevin Eck

WEWS meteorologist Jason Nicholas will be joining Cleveland CBS affiliate WOIO.

“We made an offer to keep him because he has been here for 10 years,” WEWS vp and GM Steve Weinstein told The Plain Dealer. “But it was his decision to take an offer from a competing station. And we wish him the best of luck.”

Nicholas has worked on the Cleveland ABC affiliate’s weekday Noon and weekend evening newscasts. His bio has already been removed from the station website.

The Plain Dealer reports Nicholas is expected to be named chief meteorologist and will appear on-air at WOIO in December after his non-compete clause with WEWS expires.

Before joining WEWS, Nicholas worked at KRQE in Albuquerque, N.M., WCHS in Charleston, W.V. and WSAZ in Huntington, W.V.
