Citing a Desire to Spend More Time with Family, Julie Bologna Will Leave WPXI Later This Month

By Merrill Knox

After three years at WPXI, Julie Bologna announced today that she will leave the station later this month. The meteorologist and the Pittsburgh NBC affiliate were unable to come to to an agreement on a schedule that would allow Bologna time to be with her young family.

Bologna is the station’s chief meteorologist and appears weekdays on the station’s evening newscasts. “I have two young sons, and working evenings made it too hard for me to be there for them,” she said. “I was hopeful that the station and I could work out a different schedule, but it proved to be harder than any of us thought.”

The station has not announced a replacement for Bologna. “Both of us are confident that she will be able to find the right fit that allows her to do what she loves while working a schedule that benefits her family,” WPXI vice president and general manager Ray Carter said.
