Cincinnati’s WKRC Shuffles Anchor Teams

By Mark Joyella

Wkrc_news_logoCincinnati CBS affiliate WKRC shuffled its anchor teams Wednesday, with new assignments for Paula Toti, Cammy Dierking, Curtis Jackson, Brad Johansen and new hire Sydney Benter.

The Cincinnati Enquirer breaks down the new lineups:

Toti, weekend anchor since 1997, will co-anchor the 4 p.m. weekday news starting Monday with Brad Johansen, who leaves sports after 18 years. They replace anchor Kit Andrews, who quit in July after 33 years.

The Johansen-Toti team gives Channel 12 two high-profile anchors in the competitive 4-5 p.m. time slot against Ellen DeGeneres’ “Ellen,” which moved to WLWT-TV (Channel 5) on Monday, and the premiere of the hybrid local/national “The NOW Cincinnati” newscast, hosted by Cincinnati native Julie Dolan on WCPO-TV (Channel 9).

In another change, viewers will see Channel 12’s primary anchor team – Rob Braun and Dierking – for the entire 5-6:30 p.m. evening news, and again at 11 p.m. as usual. Jackson had anchored at 5:30 p.m. with Andrews until she left.

More announcements could come from the station Thursday, including where anchor Curtis Jackson goes after the shuffle.
