Cincinnati Native Named Chief Meteorologist at WLWT

On a day when light snow snarled area traffic, WLWT-TV hired a Princeton High School graduate who loves snow to be its chief meteorologist.

“Of all the elements, snow is my favorite,” says Kevin Robinson, 29, a Weather Channel meteorologist for 4 years.

He wasn’t always around snow. The Memphis native lived in Saudi Arabia for several years, when his father, Kenneth Robinson, was there for Procter & Gamble. The family moved to Evendale for his sophomore year. He graduated from Princeton in 1997.

After earning a meteorology degree at Mississippi State University – and meeting student Derek Beasley, his Channel 5 predecessor – he worked for Channel 5’s sister station in Jackson, Miss., and the Weather Channel. He also interned for WXIX-TV (Channel 19) while in college.

“Having a local connection is obviously very important to us. Getting someone of national prominence, who has local ties, is a wonderful one-two punch,” says Stacy Owen, Channel 5 news director. More…
