Christine Haas Joins KTBC as Evening Co-Anchor

KTBC, the Fox O&O in Austin, has named Christine Haas co-anchor of its weekday evening newscasts.

Haas begins in Austin on August 12. She will co-anchor the 5 and 9 p.m. newscasts alongside Mike Warren, replacing Loriana Hernandez, who is moving to the morning newscast.

“Christine is well-respected in this business, winning numerous awards for her reporting. She’s going to be a valuable member of our team and we look forward to her return to Austin,” KTBC vice president and news director Pam Vaught said in a statement.

Haas comes from KNSD in San Diego, where she anchored the 11 a.m., 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. newscasts. She has also worked at KHOU in Houston, KVUE in Austin, KARE in Minneapolis, WTSP in Tampa, KTHV in Little Rock and KAMR in Amarillo, Texas.

KTBC FOX 7 NAMES CHRISTINE HAAS EVENING NEWS CO-ANCHOR

AUSTIN – Christine Haas has been named co-anchor of the “FOX 7 News Edge” at 5 and 9 p.m. announced Pam Vaught, the station’s Vice President and News Director. Effective Monday, August 12th, Haas will co-anchor the weekday evening newscasts Monday through Friday alongside Mike Warren.

In making the announcement, Vaught stated, “Christine is well-respected in this business, winning numerous awards for her reporting. She’s going to be a valuable member of our team and we look forward to her return to Austin.”

Most recently, Haas served as anchor for NBC 7 in San Diego. Prior to that, she was anchor for KHOU in Houston for three years. Previously, she has held anchor positions at KVUE-TV in Austin, KARE 11 in Minneapolis, WTSP in Tampa, KTHV in Little Rock, AR and KAMR in Amarillo, TX.

Added Haas, “My career has taken many twists and turns and I feel so blessed that I’m headed straight back to Texas. My son was born in Austin and our hearts truly never left our family and friends who make it so special. My thanks to FOX 7 for making this homecoming a reality.”

Haas graduated from Illinois State University a double major in Mass Communication and Psychology.

Effective Monday, August 5th, “Good Day Austin” will be anchored by Loriana Hernandez alongside Dave Froelich, Keri Bellacosa and Zack Shields.
