Three Out at KYW

KYW anchor Chris May says he’s not anchoring at the Philadelphia CBS-owned station anymore. He attached the picture you see to the right.

“I’ve anchored my last newscast at CBS3,” he wrote on his facebook page. “Thanks, everyone. Hope to see you again.”

A spokesperson told TVSpy two others are out as well, “Chris May, Kathy Orr and Sports Director Beasley Reece are no longer with CBS 3.”

According to Philly.com, new management at the station wants a change in direction.

A source close to the station informed me Tuesday that the station’s new general manager has been on a mission to “turn things around” because of unsatisfactory ratings, and that people are being let go left and right.

May was co-anchor of the weekend news when started at KYW in 2007. He was named weeknight anchor in 2008. Before coming to Philadelphia, he worked at CBS-owned WBZ-WSBK in Boston. He was at WHDH before that. He’s also worked at KATV in Little Rock, Ark.

Orr has been with the station for 12 years. Before KYW, she worked at WCAU. Reece has been with KYW since 1998. He retired from the NFL in 1985 and started his broadcast career with WTOG in St. Petersburg, Fla.
