Chicago Media Writer Questions WBBM Coverage of Reporter’s DUI

By Kevin Eck

savini_mugshotRobert Feder has set his sights on what he’s saying is a lack of transparency in WBBM‘s handling of Dave Savini’s recent arrest for DUI.

The Chicago media writer takes the the CBS owned station to task for not reporting or commenting about the arrest of its own investigative reporter on its website or on-air.

Feder said he did get an email message from a WBBM spokesperson after asking GM Marty Wilke for comment, “At this time, we have declined all requests for comment and are referring all press inquiries to Dave’s attorney.” Feder wrote that Savini’s attorney has also refused to comment.

It strikes me as the height of hypocrisy for a station that demands answers from everyone else not to respond to legitimate inquiries about one of its own employees.

Remember that the next time you see Savini, in all his self-righteous arrogance, chasing after some unwitting target who doesn’t want to talk to him. Or the next time CBS 2 makes a big deal about a minor celebrity who gets in trouble.

“Original Reporting” my ass.

TVSpy was referred to Savini’s attorney by a CBS spokesperson when we asked about Feder’s column.
