Charlotte Sports Anchor Wins 4 Emmys, Loses Job

By Kevin Eck

The good news for WCNC sports guy Chris Clark is that he won four Emmys over the weekend. The bad news? He doesn’t have a job anymore.

The Charlotte Observer reports Clark was told by the Charlotte, N.C., NBC affiliate over the summer his contract wasn’t being renewed. He was asked to stay on through football season.

“I was told they were going in a different direction,” says Clark, who was replaced by weekend anchor Russ Owens. “I wasn’t the future at that point,” says Clark. “They’ve got their plan, they’re working their plan. I don’t begrudge them.”
