WSOC meteorologist John Ahrens has been found innocent of charges he assaulted his estranged wife.
The Charlotte Observer reports Ahrens is expected to return to the ABC affiliate’s air this weekend. He’s been working behind the scenes since his arrest in October.
Ahrens, 38, and Driver, 35, were married in September 2013 and separated in June 2015. They have been in a contentious divorce and custody dispute over their daughter, now 18 months old.
AdvertisementIn testimony Thursday, Driver said a stone Ahrens threw hit her in the head and required two stitches to close. Ahrens testified that he handed over his daughter that day without incident.
Each has accused the other of having psychological issues, and a guardian ad litem was appointed to represent the best interests of the child during the proceedings.
