CBS’s Cronkite Special Tops Ratings

“That’s The Way it Was,” an hourlong CBS News special honoring Walter Cronkite, delivered network television’s largest audience in prime time on Sunday as 7.4 million viewers tuned in to CBS during the 7 p.m. hour, according to Nielsen’s estimates.

Opposite mostly low-rated summer fare, CBS led the night’s ratings over all. CBS’s “Big Brother” won the 8 p.m. hour with just 5.6 million viewers while reruns of CBS’s “Cold Case” and “Without a Trace” led the 9 and 10 p.m. time slots with 6.3 million and 5.9 million viewers, respectively. More…
