CBS Station Group Names New GM In Sacramento

CBS has named a new vice president and general manager of KOVR-KMAX in Sacramento, California.

Jay Howell is replacing Kevin Walsh, who relocated to San Francisco to serve as the president and general manger of KPIX-KCBW.

“Jay loves local television, especially CBS and CW stations, and has a terrific track record of success, both in terms of growing ratings and revenue and also developing strong community connections everywhere he has been,” president Peter Dunn said.

Howell has 18 years experience as a general manager and station group exec. He was most recently vice president of broadcast markets for Media General. He left Media General after Nexstar bought the station group. He spent four years as a member of the CBS Affiliates Board

Howell, who was born in Palm Springs, California and grew up in nearby Palm Desert, graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a degree in managerial economics and industrial management.
