CBS has promoted Gary Schneider to President and General Manager of KTVT-TV and KTXA-TV, the CBS duopoly serving the Dallas-Fort Worth market. In December, Schneider had assumed the duties of General Manager when Steve Maudlin left to head CBS’s Los Angeles duopoly. Schneider has been Senior Vice President and Station Manager of KTVT and KTXA since 2004.

“We are very pleased to have a proven leader with the experience and knowledge of the marketplace that Gary possesses taking the reins of one of our largest duopolies,” said Peter Dunn, President of CBS Television Stations, in making the announcement.

Schneider has been a fixture in Texas television and knows the Dallas market well. He was a local sales manager at KTVT from 1987 to 1989 and later became Vice President and General Manager of Houston’s KHWB.

Schneider has been with CBS since 2002, when he became Vice President and General Manager of Austin’s KEYE, which was owned by CBS at the time.
