CBS Philadelphia (KYW) said it plans to “deliver more local weather forecasting and reporting to its audiences across Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware on its broadcast, streaming and digital channels” in the next year.

In January, meteorologist Kate Bilo will move from evenings to daytime on the CBS News Philadelphia streaming channel and KYW’s weekday Noon and 4 PM newscasts. She makes way for Bill Kelly who will join the station on January 9.

Kelly will be the station’s chief meteorologist and will work weeknights at 5, 6 and 11 PM on KYW, at 10 PM on CW affiliate WPSG and on the CBS News Philadelphia streaming channel.

He most recently worked as chief meteorologist for WJLA in Washington, D.C.

“We are excited to fortify our NextWeather team and strengthen our competitive position across the whole day,” said Kathleen Gerrow, vice president and news director of CBS Philadelphia. “We look forward to having Kate bring her considerable knowledge and experience to the heart of the day, both on CBS 3 and by helping us develop more weather programming for our streaming channel.”

“Family and roots are so important to me,” said Kelly. “The opportunity to raise my three amazing daughters in the same place their grandparents were born and raised is beyond a blessing. I can’t wait to share with them all of the incredible things about the Philadelphia area that I love!”
