CBS Makes Management Moves in Detroit and Atlanta

Tom Canedo is leaving Detroit CBS-owned stations WWJ-WKBD to helm the station group’s CW affiliate in Atlanta WUPA.

Canedo’s move means current WUPA station manager Tim Bennett will stay at the station and continue on as vp and sales manager of CBS Television Group’s national spot sales office in Atlanta.

“Tom is a talented executive who has done an outstanding job of leading our stations in Detroit during the past four years,” said Peter Dunn, president of CBS Television. “Even more importantly, he is a devoted husband and father. When Tom came to me and asked if he could continue his career with CBS in Atlanta – the place he, his wife Yvette, and their children have called home for nearly 20 years – we were happy to honor his request.”

Brian Watson will replace Canedo as vp, station manager and director of sales at WWJ-WBKD in Detroit.

“We are very fortunate to have such an experienced and talented roster of talent,” said Dunn. “Brian is a seasoned pro who has been mentored by Tom both in Detroit and Atlanta. We look forward to having Brian take this next big step in his CBS career and work with his colleagues in Detroit to build on the success they have had with Tom at the helm.”
