“48 Hours Mystery” on Saturday will broadcast the investigation that its correspondent Harold Dow was completing when he died suddenly last month.

The hourlong report, titled “The Killing Game,” is the season-premiere episode of the CBS news magazine. It is a complex tale about a serial killer, Rodney Alcala, who was sentenced to death in March.

Susan Zirinsky, the executive producer, said Mr. Dow worked on the investigation for more than a year. More…
