Casey Jones Named WOOD Morning Co-Anchor

Grand Rapids, Mich. NBC affiliate WOOD has named Casey Jones co-anchor of its morning show, 24 Hour News 8 Daybreak.

Jones, who will co-anchor with Emily Linnert, is no stranger to morning viewers. He’s worked as an interim anchor during the summer and has reported for the show. Jones worked as a news reporter and in the sports department.

“We heard from viewers right away that they connected with Casey as a new member of the team,” said WOOD news director Dan Boers. “He grew up in West Michigan, went to college here and really understands what’s important to our community.”

“I’m thrilled for this chance to deliver the important news and information to viewers in the hometown I grew up in,” said Jones. He replaces Brett Thomas, who left for WOOD’s sister station WANE in Fort Wayne, Ind.
