Greensboro-Winston-Salem, N.C. NBC affiliate WXII said goodbye to longtime anchor Cameron Kent.

Kent was named sports director at WXII in 1981. After leaving the station to work as a screenwriter, Kent came back to WXII in 1994.

The station took a look back on his career Friday night during its 6 p.m. newscast and dedicated much of its Facebook page to saying goodbye.

At the end of the show, Kent drove into retirement on the back of a motorcycle driven by the Wake Forest University mascot.

He even got a shout out from NBC anchors Lester Holt, Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie.
