Buffalo Photog Catches Flying Manhole on Camera

By Kevin Eck

While shooting an interview about an electrical fire under a downtown street, a WGRZ news photographer captured an explosion that blew a manhole cover into the air.

If the video of the story wasn’t on the Buffalo NBC affiliate’s website, we would have sworn it was faked. According to the station “2 On Your Side photojournalist Dave Harrington said he heard an explosion as he was arriving. Then, while he was interviewing a witness, a second explosion sent a manhole cover soaring into the air.”
