Broadcaster Ranks Among Top 10 Worst Jobs

By Andrew Gauthier

Being a broadcaster is the worst.

That’s according to a new jobs report from CareerCast, which ranked the best and worst professions of 2012.  TV and radio broadcaster ranked #10 on CareerCast’s list of worst jobs, just behind butcher and a few notches better than newspaper reporter.

“As the digital world continues to take over and provide on-demand information, the need for print newspapers and daily newscasts is diminishing,” CareerCast explained, pointing out that it’s the first time that two media jobs have landed on the site’s top 10 list of worst jobs.  “To be sure, both jobs once seemed glamorous, but on-the-job stress, declining job opportunities and income levels are what landed them on our Worst Jobs list.”

The site also ranked photojournalist as one of the most stressful jobs.

If you’re a TV reporter who’s sick of the stress and low pay that often accompanies the job, you may want to consider going to school to become a software engineer–that’s CareerCast’s pick for best job.
