Boston freelance reporter Kelli O’Hara says she has breast cancer.
O’Hara shared the news in a Facebook post. “On Monday I had surgery for Breast Cancer…yes, I’m serious. It feels surreal putting it into words. My husband calls this the Summer from Hell, he’s lost 20 lbs alone from the stress,” she wrote.
O’Hara said doctors made the diagnosis while she and her husband were trying to start a family.

“The good news is that I’ve never felt so loved, I feel blessed despite my diagnosis,” she said. “Strange that you have to get sick to realize how lucky you truly are … it’s humbling.”
O’Hara currently freelances for the Weather Channel. She also has orked for CBS News and WHDH, the independent station in Boston.
