Veteran WWL reporter Bill Capo is signing off from the New Orleans CBS affiliate after 36 years.
“This is a tough post to write, as it is one I hoped would never happen,” Capo wrote on his Facebook page this weekend. “I am signing off as a reporter for Eyewitness News this Friday, March third, after more than 36 years on the air at the station I have called ‘a little bit of broadcasting heaven.’ I have enjoyed an incredible journey here, covered amazing events, watched history as it happened, seen untold horrors, and many miracles.”
Capo started working at WWL in 1980. He’s been the Eyewitness News Action reporter since 1985. “He offers help to Southeast Louisianans, whether they’re fighting city hall, facing organ transplants or experiencing financial emergencies. Aside from cutting red tape, Bill often brings together people who need help and those willing to give it,” says the station.
“My work has taken me to a lot of places around the country and the world,” Capo wrote in his station bio. “I can’t think of any place I’d rather live than New Orleans.”
