Bill Burr is joining WCIV, the ABC affiliate in Charleston, S.C., as a general assignment reporter. The Moultrie News reports he will appear on the 6 and 7 p.m. weekday newscasts.

“We are thrilled to have Bill join the ABC News 4 family,” WCIV general manager Suzanne Teagle said in a statement. “He’s a familiar face around Charleston. He knows the community, and he has a great work ethic. He’ll bring our viewers the stories that matter.”

Burr was the morning anchor at rival WCSC, the CBS affiliate, for seven years before signing off in 2012. He has also worked at WXII in Winston-Salem, WFMY in Greensboro, N.C. and WBTW in Myrtle Beach.
