Graham Media Group has named Bernice Kearney the news director at its Houston NBC affiliate KPRC.
This is a move from within GMG for Kearney, who was news director at the station group’s San Antonio station KSAT. She worked at KSAT since 1993 when she started there as a news producer.
“Bernice is a strong newsroom leader, a solid journalist, innovative on all platforms and possesses an engaging, caring personality,” Lane said in a memo obtained by Houston media blogger Mike McGuff. “She is not afraid of the work it takes to win big and has a proven track record of helping her team learn, thrive, grow, and become successful both personally and professionally.”
Kearney replaces Dave Strickland who left in October. She also reunites with gm Phil Lane, who led KSAT until being named gm of KPRC in September.
