Ben Simmoneau Joins WCVB

Boston Hearst station WCVB has hired Ben Simmoneau as an anchor and reporter.

Starting Wednesday, July 6, Simmoneau will anchor the 5 p.m. newscast alongside J.C. Monahan for the ABC affiliate and the 10 p.m. on its MeTV affiliate alongside Maria Stephanos.

“Ben is an award-winning, news-breaking journalist, an experienced anchor, and solid investigative reporter. His many skills will be a valuable asset to WCVB’s outstanding news team,” said president and gm Bill Fine. “We’re confident that the addition of Ben will help to continue our news leadership position in the market.”

Simmoneau comes to WCVB from WNYW in New York where he was a weekday morning anchor. He worked at KYW in Philadelphia before that and started his career at WGAL in Harrisburg-Lancaster, Pa.
