By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

WGN meteorologist Tom Skilling is celebrating 40 years at the Tribune-owned station in Chicago.

Skilling started at WGN on Aug. 13, 1978. He forecasts the weather on the WGN evening news from 5-7 p.m., WGN News at Nine and Ten, on cable station CLTV, as well as on WGN Radio and the Chicago Tribune weather page.

Viewers have been honoring the longtime meteorologist on social media using the hashtag #skilling40, including recalling the time Skilling got teary eyed watching the total eclipse. The station aired a retrospective video last night.
