Barrington Broadcasting Group , which specializes in smaller market stations including WNWO in Toledo and KVII in Amarillo, TX, announced its first quarter financial results this week, reporting a 3.1% increase in revenue compared to the same period last year.

Barrington’s 24 stations brought in $31.9 million during the first three months of 2011, up from $31 million for the first quarter of 2010.

“The strength and momentum in national sales more than offset the decrease in political revenues from 2010,” said Barrington CEO K. James Yager. “We continue to focus and remain committed to the Company’s three key priorities of re-engineering of our station-level operations, development of direct local sales strategies, and the growth of the stations’ local digital platforms.”
