Baltimore Station Wins Best Newscast

The winners of the 82nd National Headliner Awards were announced today.

The awards, given out by the Press Club of Atlantic City, are given to the “best journalism in newspapers, photography, radio, television and online.”

“CHRONICLE: Burning Questions” by Pittsburgh’s WTAE took home a Best of Show in TV award and a first for continuing coverage of a single news event. The Hearst-owned ABC affiliate placed second for its website.

Baltimore NBC affiliate WBAL took home a first for best newscast and a first for its coverage of a live breaking news event with “Baltimore Riots: The First 24 Hours.”

Boston’s WCVB was judged to have the best broadcast television station website.

The Headliner Awards are one of the oldest and largest awards in the country for journalistic merit in the communications industry.
