Baltimore Station Finds Way to Support Community Through Coronavirus Crisis

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

In Baltimore, WMAR is launching a public service campaign to support local business owners and their workers amid the coronavirus crisis.

It’s called “We’re Open Baltimore” and using a multiplatform approach, the station will use the hashtag #takeouttuesday to encourage viewers to order from restaurants that are suffering right now.

“The ‘We’re Open’ initiative will allow us to directly and indirectly support the lifeblood of Maryland’s economy—small businesses. WMAR has operated at the heart of our community for 72 years and our mission is to support and report on this community through essential journalism, meaningful storytelling and authentic connections” said Bill Hooper, general manager.
