Mary Bubala is ending 2019 on a high note.

The longtime Baltimore anchor, who was fired earlier this year from WJZ, landed at WBBF, the Sinclair station in the market, just a couple months later as a reporter.

And today, the station announced she’s been promoted to lead evening anchor. She will co-anchor with Kai Jackson, who she worked with at WJZ.

“We’re very excited to bring Mary back to the anchor desk in Baltimore where she will continue her award-winning journalism and storytelling,” said WBFF news director Mike Tomko. “Mary joins a dedicated team of peers …We could not be more thrilled to have her start this next chapter in her successful career.”

Bubala was let go from WJZ in May after making a controversial comment in the wake of the resignation of Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh.

She will start in her new role Nov. 27. Bubala replaces Jennifer Gilbert, who announced her retirement from the station this month.
