Bakersfield Anchor Returns After Cancer Remission

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

KBAK anchor Rachelle Murcia has returned to the anchor desk after a cancer diagnosis earlier this year.

The Bakersfield, Calif., anchor has been off the air at the Sinclair station since earlier this year while undergoing treatment for breast cancer. The evening anchor returned on Thursday, announcing that her cancer was in remission.

Anchors at the competition, KGET, were excited about her return. The Nexstar station did a story about Murcia’s diagnosis and recovery.

Murcia was diagnosed with breast cancer in January. She will still undergo several rounds of radiation to complete her treatment plan.
