Bakersfield Anchor Punched in the Face Outside Studio

By Mark Joyella

Andres Herrera, anchor at Bakersfield NBC affiliate KGET, was assaulted on his way into the station Wednesday. KBAK reports Herrera was asked by the man if he worked for KGET, and when Herrera said that he did, the man punched the anchor in the face:

“… the man said something like, ‘You guys are all part of the conspiracy. You’ve got all those antennas, and dishes … ” (KGET news director Mike) Trihey wrote in an email.

Trihey said the man went on to threaten his anchors. “I’m going to kill you all,” the man reportedly told Herrera and Caceres, according to Trihey.

The man was later arrested. Herrera is recovering–with a very bright bruise on his face.
