Baby Boom among SportsNewsers in Dallas/Ft. Worth

Three of Dallas/Ft. Worth’s biggest names in sports news have more than the Mavericks, Cowboys and Rangers on their minds.

Gina Miller, (far left) a sportscaster at KTVT and TXA21 is pregnant with her first child and due in October. Emily Jones (center) of Fox Sports Southwest is going to give birth to her first at the end of next month, and Fox Sports Southwest’s Dana Larson (right) is expecting her second daughter in two weeks. Larson tells the Dallas Morning News the timing is “So bizarre.”

“We had kind of a little sisterhood already,” said Larson, “Now we have a bond.”

All three plan to return to work after their babies are born. All agree there was no master plan on the timing.

“I was 36 at the time, my husband was 48,” said Miller, who was married about two months before the Super Bowl came to town. “We weren’t waiting.”

On the studio set, Miller no longer walks and talks at the same time. “I get out of breath doing the highlights while moving,” she said.

During media interview scrums throughout the Mavericks playoff run, Miller said she was constantly hit in the belly by the long microphone poles colleagues carried.

“When I got nailed,” she said. “It hurt.”

The athletes have been kinder.

“I go into the locker room and every one offers me a seat and asks if I want water,” said Larson.
