Shelton Green is leaving KVUE after spending 19 of his 27 years in news at the Austin ABC affiliate.

According to the Austin American-Statesman, Green is leaving to be a mortgage loan officer a Fort Worth based company.

“There have been so many conversations, so many brains picked, so many prayers and so many tears,” said Green. “This is about me taking a risk. I needed to learn something else. I’m excited. I feel giddy about it.”

He came to KVUE in 1995 from KTVT in Dallas-Fort Worth.

“It always saddens me when a journalist of Shelton’s caliber leaves the news industry,” news director Frank Volpicella said. “He’s broken many stories, and reported on all the major news events of the past two decades. His co-workers and our viewers and readers will miss Shelton. I do applaud his courage to pursue another career path. Everyone at KVUE wishes him much success and happiness in his new venture.”

Green’s last day is tomorrow.
