Atlanta Meteorologist Recovers After Back Surgery

Jennifer Valdez, chief meteorologist for CBS46 Atlanta, is recovering after having back surgery.

After three weeks off the air, Valdez says she is still in pain from the artificial disk replacement surgery. “I’ll have a good day, then feel awful for three,” Valdez told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The 39-year-old had a deteriorating disk in her spine and for years put off surgery.

“Between personal and work life,” she said, “[there’s] no good time.”

But it got to the point where Valdez couldn’t do anything around the house, and even work became difficult.

Right now, Valdez is at home recovering. She hopes she will be back on the air later this month.

“I am very excited to finally be free of long-term pain and be mobile again,” Valdez said. “I haven’t been able to work out. I haven’t been able to be active. I haven’t been able to be the mom I want to be for my two kids.”
