WSB anchor Jovita Moore has died seven months after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer. She was 54.
The Atlanta ABC affiliate reported that Moore died last night. She is survived by her mother, her two children and her stepdaughter. The station said Moore called her children “the most important accomplishments of her life.”
Moore left the station suddenly in April after doctors discovered two masses on her brain. She was later diagnosed with glioblastoma, the most common type of brain cancer. There is no current cure for glioblastoma, only treatments to slow it down.
She joined WSB in 1998 and was named a main evening anchor in 2013. Before coming to WSB, Moore worked at WMC in Memphis and KFSM in Fayetteville and Fort Smith, Ark.
