Asiana Airlines Will Sue KTVU to ‘Strongly Respond to its Racially Discriminatory Report’

Just one day after Asiana Airlines announced it was considering legal action against KTVU, the company has confirmed it will sue the San Francisco Fox affiliate for reporting false and racially offensive names of the pilots of Asiana flight 214.

The airline has decided to sue the station to “strongly respond to its racially discriminatory report,” according to CBS News. The lawsuit will likely be filed in U.S. courts. Asiana has not definitively said whether it will also file suit against the NTSB, which erroneously confirmed the names at KTVU’s request.

KTVU reported false names for the four pilots involved in the San Francisco crash during the noon newscast Friday. The names included “Sum Ting Wong,” “Wi Tu Lo” and “Ho Lee Fuk.” The station issued an on-air apology later in the newscast and a written statement of apology later in the day.
