Antkowiak Returns to Anchor Desk at Pittsburgh’s KDKA

Jennifer Antkowiak is heading back to KDKA-TV.

Three years after the popular 5 p.m. news anchor departed, Antkowiak will return to Channel 2 as a morning news anchor. She starts Sept. 21, replacing Sonni Abatta, who left in July for an evening news anchor job in Orlando.

“Since I’ve been gone, you could ask anybody who works on the news desk [at KDKA] how many times I’ve called with news tips and pieces of information about big stories that were going on,” Antkowiak said. “[News] is in my blood.”

After 14 years at the station, Antkowiak left KDKA in May 2006 for what she said was “a match made in heaven,” working for Leslie Sansone, creator of an in-home walking program. A year later, Antkowiak had moved on to create her own TV show, “Jennifer,” which she had been planning to continue until KDKA came calling. More…
