Sharron Melton, the morning anchor at Houston ABC-owned station KTRK, is leaving the station.
Melton, who’s been with KTRK for eight years, was unceremoniously re-positioned to “field anchor” last August.
She announced her departure on Facebook yesterday, writing, in part:

It was exactly 8 years ago this week, I started my adventure. Now 8 years, and thousands of fun filled mornings later, this adventure has come to a close. While I close the door on my time and the opportunity awarded to me here at ABC13, I’m looking forward to the excitement that is yet to come!
Prior to joining KTRK, Melton worked at Miami Fox affiliate WSVN as a weekend anchor.
