Anchor Randy Moore Joining WFIE

moore_wfieRandy Moore will be joining Evansville, IN, NBC affiliate WFIE.

Moore is a familiar face in the Evansville market. After working at rival station WEHT-WTVW for 33 years, Moore signed off from the ABC and CW affiliate Tuesday morning.

“As an Evansville native, I grew up with WFIE,” Moore told the Evansville Courier & Press. “Even as a competitor, I always admired and respected the work of Channel 14. To join an organization whose reputation has been built by the likes of Marcia Yockey, David James, Mike Blake and Ann Komis is truly an honor. I look forward to doing all I can to uphold that excellent tradition.”

The Courier & Press reports Moore will work behind the scenes for a year due to obligations in his WTVW-WEHT contract. Moore started working at WTVW in 1980.

Regarding what Moore will be doing for the station, the Courier & Press said WFIE general manager Nick Ulmer told them, “That’s to be determined. It’s a year away. He’ll definitely have a time slot and be part of our on-air team.”

During Moore’s Tuesday morning sign-off from WEHT-WTVW, Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke declared Tuesday “Randy Moore Day” in Evansville.
