Karen Devine will join Palm Springs’ KESQ News Channel 3 starting this fall, the station announced Tuesday. Devine will co-anchor the ABC-affiliate’s 5 PM, 6 PM and 11 PM newscasts with John White. Her debut is scheduled for October 12.
Devine, a five-time Emmy Award winner, comes to KESQ after 17 years at local NBC affiliate KMIR 6. In 2007, she was named Woman of the Year for the state of California. Readers of the Desert Sun newspaper have twice voted her “The Valley’s Favorite Local Television Personality”, and Palm Springs Life Magazine named her “Best Local TV News Anchor.”
Devine signed a five-year contract with KESQ on Monday.
“Karen Devine is an outstanding journalist and we are absolutely thrilled she is joining News Channel 3,” said Bob Allen, KESQ’s Executive VP and GM.
“I live here, my husband and I are raising our two boys here and we are deeply involved in the community,” Devine remarked. “What affects you at home, affects me, too. I will continue to make sure you hear what’s happening first and in the most accurate manner.”
